Shukra Dev

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

This policy explains what information Shukra Dev ("we", "us") collects when you use www.shukradev.com and Acharya's Desk, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. By creating an account or using the service you agree to this policy.

1. What we collect

Information you give us:

  • Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), or your Google profile (name, email, photo) if you sign in with Google.
  • Practice details: your practice name, city and settings.
  • Information you enter about your clients: names, phone and WhatsApp numbers, email, birth date, time and place, family links, life events, notes, diary entries, predictions, remedies, appointments and follow-ups.
  • Messages you send us, and requests such as a Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan offer request.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data: pages viewed, features used, device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and error logs. We use Google Analytics for this.
  • The city you choose for the panchang.

If you connect Google Calendar, we receive access to create, update and delete the appointment events that Acharya's Desk adds to your calendar.

2. How we use it

  • To run the service: make kundlis, dashas, gochar and panchang, store your practice records, and show them on your devices.
  • To keep appointments in step with your Google Calendar, if you connect it.
  • To manage your account and plan, review offer requests and reply to you.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent misuse and fix problems.
  • To understand how the service is used and improve it.
  • To build and train AI models, only with anonymised data (see section 3).

3. Anonymised data and AI training

We use the data on Shukra Dev, including kundlis, birth details, life events, notes and diary entries, to research jyotish and to build, train and improve AI models and features. Before any data is used this way, we anonymise it:

  • We remove names, phone numbers, email addresses, addresses and any other direct identifiers, including names written inside notes.
  • We generalise details that could single someone out, for example by keeping a region instead of an exact place of birth.
  • We use the data in aggregate, together with many other records, and never to make decisions about a particular person.

Anonymised data no longer identifies anyone, so it may be kept after an account is deleted. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use identifiable data to train AI models.

Data from Google (your Google sign-in profile and Google Calendar) is never used to train AI models. See section 11.

4. Your clients' data

When you enter information about your clients, you decide what is entered and why, and we process it on your behalf. You are responsible for telling your clients that their details are kept in Acharya's Desk, for having their consent (and a parent's or guardian's consent for children), and for the anonymised use described in section 3. If a client asks you to correct or delete their details, you can do it in the app, or write to us.

5. Who we share it with

We share data only with providers that help us run the service, under contracts that limit how they use it:

  • Hosting and database: Vercel and Neon.
  • Google: sign-in, Google Calendar (if you connect it) and Google Analytics.
  • An astronomical calculation service, which receives only a birth date, time and coordinates, never names or contact details.
  • A payment provider, when paid plans start.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (with this policy still applying). We do not sell your data.

6. Where it is stored and how it is protected

Our servers may be outside India, including in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, and access is limited to what is needed to run the service. No system is completely secure; if a breach affects you, we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, or ask us to, we delete your personal data and your clients' data within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep. Backups are cleared on their normal cycle. Anonymised data (section 3) may be kept.

8. Your rights

You can:

  • Get a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct or update it (most of it directly in the app).
  • Ask us to delete it.
  • Withdraw your consent. This stops future processing, but it may mean we cannot keep providing the service.
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to.
  • Raise a complaint with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India.

Write to support@shukradev.com. We reply within 30 days.

9. Cookies and local storage

We use a sign-in cookie to keep you signed in, and store your language, theme and recently opened screens on your device. Your kundlis and records are also kept on your device so the app opens fast and works offline. Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits. You can clear these in your browser settings, but signing in needs cookies.

10. Children

Accounts are for adults (18 years or older). Children's details may be entered by an astrologer with a parent's or guardian's consent, as part of a family's kundlis.

11. Google user data

Shukra Dev's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google sign-in only to identify you, and Google Calendar only to add, update and remove your Acharya's Desk appointments. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI or machine learning models. You can disconnect Google at any time in Settings or in your Google account.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the date above, and tell you in the app or by email before an important change takes effect.

13. Contact and grievances

For questions, requests or complaints about your data, write to our grievance contact at support@shukradev.com. If the Hindi and English versions of this policy differ, the English version applies.
